ABOUT THE PROPERTY
Owners New Zealand film designers Michael Kane and Glenis Foster first visited Aupres de l’eglise many years ago and returned on numerous occasions to visit and enjoy the Champagne region. They are now able to call the place home and enjoy all it has to offer with their 3 children Oscar, Amelia and Liliana.
You will discover this property in the small village of Oyes, in
the Marias de St Gond, between Epernay and Sezanne.
Walk up the stone steps to the front door into the hallway with its
original
tiled floor, two bedrooms on the left and the 'hub' of the house
on the
right. The downstairs interior is a mix of typical French country
house and
unique style. The front downstairs bedroom with large
windows
overlooks the south facing courtyard and garden with topiary
hedges, roses
and shady birch trees. The kitchen/dining/living room is large
and airy
with the front overlooking the courtyard and garden and the back looking out
to the village church for contemplative washing up!
Upstairs be surprised by the contrast; the walls have been left unadorned except for a few odd
scribbles (from passed
occupants). The two bedrooms, library
and bathroom are partioned by an unusual and contemporary system
of shelving and bookcases. These rooms again enjoy the lovely outlook
over the garden and courtyard below. Original artworks and curiosities
found and collected from local markets and brocantes can be enjoyed throughout the house.
This very special property, comfortably furnished
throughout with fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms and generous
bedrooms, is now being
offered for rental and is exclusively yours for the duration
of your stay. The ambience and simple beauty will seep into
your very soul.
Everyone who comes here falls in love with it.
